Physiotherapy
For combat sports athletes and high-performers who refuse standard care. We return you stronger.

Evidence-Based.
Athlete-First.
This Isn’t Standard Physio. And That’s the Point.
Most physio clinics give you 30 minutes, a generic exercise sheet, and send you on your way.
That’s not what happened to me. And it’s not what happens here.
I had my first knee injury at 15. It was mismanaged for five years. Six surgeries later, doctors told me I’d never perform the same again. I proved them wrong, rebuilt myself stronger, and built Ikaika because the clinic I needed didn’t exist.
Physiotherapy at Ikaika is different. Not because we say it is, because the results prove it.
What Physiotherapy at Ikaika Actually Looks Like
Your initial consultation runs 60+ minutes. Not 30. Not 20. Sixty minutes minimum because rushing a diagnosis is how injuries get mismanaged for five years.
We spend that time understanding:
- What actually happened — not just what your scan says
- Your training history and what sport or movement means to you
- Your goals — competing? Back in the gym? Just moving without pain?
- Your lifestyle — what you can realistically commit to
- Where previous rehab has failed you
By the end of session one, you leave with a real diagnosis, a clear understanding of why it happened, and a plan that’s actually built for you.
Not a printout. A plan.
I had six surgeries and doctors telling me my athletic career was over. Instead of accepting that — I rebuilt myself stronger. That's exactly what I do for every athlete who walks through our door.
— Mana Shigematsu, Founder & PhysiotherapistWho We Work With
We specialise in combat sports athletes, MMA, BJJ, boxing, Muay Thai. But we work with anyone who trains hard and refuses to accept “you’ll never be the same.”
Lifters. Runners. Surfers. Soccer players.
Everyday high-performers who want to move well and stay that way.
If you’ve been told to just rest and see how it goes, you’re in the right place.
What Makes This Different
Most clinics treat your injury. We treat the athlete who has the injury.
There’s a difference between a “knee injury” and a BJJ fighter with a knee injury who has a tournament in 12 weeks and trains five days a week. One gets a generic program. The other gets a plan built around their sport, their schedule, and their goals.
At Ikaika, physiotherapy isn’t isolated. It’s integrated with strength and conditioning and sport-specific performance, one physio, one voice, one plan from your first session to full return to sport.
We don’t hand you off. We take you the whole way.
Our Approach: Built on Three Phases
Phase 1 — Diagnose. We don’t guess. We assess, we listen, and we build a complete picture before we touch anything.
Phase 2 — Rebuild. Pain going away is not the finish line. It’s the starting point. We rebuild strength, restore movement quality, and load the tissue properly so when you return to sport, your body is ready for it.
Phase 3 — Perform. Return to sport isn’t the end. It’s a checkpoint. We shift to maintenance and performance optimisation keeping you strong, resilient, and injury-free for the long run.
You’re not broken. You just haven’t been built yet.
That’s what this is. Book your assessment and let’s get started.
